I never....

I never thought I would be a stay at home mom living in Corpus!
I never thought I would have lived in 4 different homes and 4 different cities in 4 years!
I never thought I would have a little boy(always wanted girls)
I never thought I would be that mom who lets her child put her keys in his mouth!
I never thought I would let my baby have formula!
I never thought I would let my child scream in a store while everyone stares!
I never thought I would buy toys or baby items that weren't rated on consumer reports!
I never thought I would stay at home and still have a cleaning lady!
I never thouht I would have a messy car due to my child eating or engorging his mouth with cheeries or goldgish!
I never thought I would stand in line more than 30 minutes at toys r us to get my child a toy for christmas!
I never thought I would let me child scream in the middle of the night for longer than 10 minutes!
I never thought I would have a child go in public with crusty boogers all over his nose!
I never thought I would change my child's diaper in public restrooms!
I never thought I would ever turn on the TV for my child to watch cartoons!

These are just a few of the things I never thought I would do pre-Ethan. When I was pregnant and would see other mom's doing these things I would totally judge them and say "I will never do that"! Hating to admit it....I am now that mom! It's almost like your a really great mom until your kids are born. We all picture ourselves to be this perfect "ideal" mom when in reality that's just in books or on TV.
When Ethan was born I tried to breastfeed and just had so many problems since he was a preemie...it never worked out. He had breastmilk for 6 weeks thru a bottle and then we switched to formula. But I can remember thinking "breast is best"! I mean even the backs of formula cans tell you this. I went crazy thinking I was an awful parent! Thanks to my oh so wonderful mom she helped me realize that he was eating and that is all that mattered. I mean its not like all the kids at school are going to know who is breastfed or not.

Since Ethan was a preemie I couldn't take him anywhere for 3 months. I am already a germ freak but became more so when he was born. So now I still wash my hands like crazy and his as well, but when your kid is screaming in the grocery store and you can't stand it any longer, for some reason car keys soothe them so well.

When you have to run errands and have no family in town to watch your child and no $ to pay a sitter than they come along with you. Which means a dirty car filled with cheerios and goldfish and some spilled milk to keep them entertained!

These are just a few examples of things I never thought I would do as a mom and I could go on and on! So for all you mom's out there....we are not perfect and we make mistakes.....but all that matters is that our kids think we are:). So don't stress about motherhood and enjoy every minute of it because before we know it our babies will be grown!

what a great entry! hope you don't mind my reading! I have thought many of those things you mentioned and I don't have children yet... I am curious to see how many of my plans/intentions change once I do have babies!!
